Canoe Shipping


When purchasing a canoe, one of the main details to be worked out will be delivery. If you live near enough to Winona, Minnesota, we're always happy to have customers collect the canoe in-person and receive a discount on your order. We'd love to give you a tour of the shop as well. For those further afield, there are two options: Personal delivery, private canoe shippers and commercial freight. 


Personal Delivery 


Any time we have multiple canoes going to roughly the same part of the country we will deliver batches of canoes ourselves. If you're not in a hurry, this is the easiest way to have your canoe delivered and is usually the best price for delivery. With this option we'll simply hang onto the canoe when finished until it's time to make the delivery for multiple customers in the same region of the country. Approximate pricing is available below for group deliveries.  Note that these are based on your distance from our shop in Winona, Minnesota and subject to getting enough boats ordered from the same geographical region for delivery. Any cancellations due to shipping costs are subject to the above cancellation policy.

***Shipping can take a lot of time for canoes as they are large and not a standard item for shipping companies. Patience is required as we gather enough canoes to make a delivery trip.


Paddle and Accessories Shipping


 Paddles and accessories, like Seat Backs or canoe covers, ship from our shop in Winona, Minnesota using USPS Priority Mail. Some items such as paddle, are typically made to order. Check the product page to confirm the made to order lead time.





All Merrimack canoes carry a 1 Year Limited Warranty, guaranteeing against all defects in the construction of the canoe. Proper care for your canoe should provide you with decades of enjoyment on the water. We do not warranty repairs due to impact or abrasion during use, storage, or transportation or any damage due to improper storage/ handling of the canoe. This is up to the sole discretion of Merrimack Canoe Company employees during inspection.


All canoe orders require a deposit of at least 50% of the purchase price to begin construction.

Canoe Production/Lead Times

Made to Order canoes are subject to lead times determined by the model and quantities of canoes that have been ordered. Lead times listed on product pages are subject to change at the discretion of Merrimack Canoe Company.

Order Cancellation

Custom boats (including but not limited to: custom artwork, for a floor print or deck plates, and gelcoat colors, or designs not available on our website) will incur a 50% cancellation fee after an order has been placed for a custom item.

Standard boats

Order cancellation after production starts but before the boat has been finished will incur a 10% cancellation fee.

Order cancellation after a boat has finished production will incur a 20% restocking fee.


Order cancellation after a boat has been shipped will incur a 50% restocking fee + shipping fees that were paid by Merrimack for the delivery or billed to be paid upon delivery.


Non-Canoe Items

Non-canoe items may be cancelled before shipment with no restocking fees. If the item has been shipped please see the Returns section below.


Returns for non-canoe items

If you need to return an item, please Contact Us with your order number and details about the product you would like to return and we'll get back to you with details about returning or exchanging your product. Please do not return items without first contacting us. Undamaged and unused items will typically be accepted for return or exchange within 30 days of it being shipped. The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs/insurance and refunds will not include original shipping costs.

Returns for Canoes

Canoe sales are final once delivered to, or picked up by the customer. Returns after this point are at the sole discretion of Merrimack Canoe Company. Merrimack Canoe Company is not responsible for any fees or damage incurred in returning the canoe to our location. Any authorized canoe returns will be subject to a restocking fee based upon inspection for damage, and/or wear and tear.
