Made To Order Guide Beavertail Paddle
Featuring an iconic blade modeled after the shape of a beaver’s tail, The Guide paddle is matched by a long, tapered grip for a balanced feel in your hand. Elegant lines crafted from a single piece of wood make for a paddle that looks as good out of the water as it feels in it. Each stroke from this paddle moves easily through the water providing just what’s needed; whether you’re paddling across a calm, sheet of glass or into the face of gale force winds. A hand-rubbed, oil finish provides a butter smooth feel that’s easy to maintain for years to come.
Merrimack Signature one-piece paddles are built by our partners at Sanborn Canoe Co. exclusively for Merrimack Canoes.
Please note that there is a very wide variety in grain pattern between any given piece of walnut, ash, or cherry. Each paddle ordered can and will have differing contrast and tone than in the paddles shown. Because we are building paddles from a relatively limited supply of quality hardwoods, we can't guarantee a particular look or coloration for any given order.

Perhaps it seems excessive to spend over $200 for a single canoe paddle but once that paddle is in your hands and your canoe moves effortlessly through the water, you know you’ve made the right decision. Canoeing is partly esthetics for me and the light weight, deep cherry grain and super smooth oil finish on these guide paddles make me feel just right. So happy and satisfied with these paddles.
I purchased my Merrimack paddle about three years ago. I wanted to inject some style into my Quetico and BWCA canoe trips and I loved the lines of your paddle. What has surprised me most about this paddle is how comfortable it is. It just fits into my hands and I never experience wrist fatigue. (I have carpal tunnel syndrome.) You make a great product and this paddle is as pleasant to use as it is to look at. Thank you!
